Sport pilot 2.0
A simpler way of flying, for people who want to fly for fun.
Requires 20 hours of flight time, compared with 40+ for Private Pilot
No FAA medical needed in most cases, only a valid driver’s license
Personalized instruction and a fixed-rate package
A sport pilot certificate lets you fly light sport aircraft in the daytime under visual flight rules. It’s a more accessible, less expensive way to become a pilot.
What’s New in the Rules
Sport pilots can fly a larger selection of aircraft, with the definition moving from a weight limit to performance-based criteria such as stall speed. Night flying needs extra training, an endorsement, and a basic or third class medical.

Commercial pilots can be compensated for flying, including airlines, charter, aerial, photography, and agricultural flying. It’s also the foundation for an Airline Transport Pilot certificate. One to two years with time-building.
